School’s out and it’s time for summer activities!
School has been out for some time now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Extracurricular school activities, summer camps, and other summer activities for kids have been canceled in many areas around the country. The coronavirus came upon us so suddenly and left many families uncertain about how best to continue educating their children. How do I ensure my child has learned everything they would have learned before COVID-19? Did my child’s learning suffer over that time?
Now parents are faced with a new set of challenges: what your child will do this summer? Are you asking yourself, “If my child participates in summer learning or summer activities, will they be safe?” With many onsite events and activities canceled or postponed, we have to adapt and overcome by finding summer activities for kids closer to home. Whether you are looking for ways to help your child catch up from missed in-class instruction or something to keep them entertained, we’ve rounded up resources for summer learning and enrichment activities that any family can do from anywhere. Importantly, we’ve made a real effort to include both online and offline resources here. We hear many of you when you say you’re looking for ways to cut down on screen time!
This page was created as a joint effort by Parent Support for Online Learning, a group that provides help and advice to parents seeking answers from parents who have been there.
We will continue to monitor and update the summer learning resources listed here as new ones become available. Know of any resource we may have missed? Reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know!
